Hi folks,

Just thought I'd share a quick news post updating the fact that I have *finally* completed TAS - Episode 7. It only took well over a year... (yyyeaaah, 'bout that: some things just take time. Reality itself tends to be the main reason). So, because of the fact it took quite a while, I'm also going to go into some of the reasons why that is the case and, for those few followers that I do have, I feel that I would like to owe you this explanation more than anyone else. This is because I really do appreciate your support and for stickin' around with me here on the JRRun channel.

Okay, so firstly, it's over nine minutes long. Even though 'Satchel's' format is not traditional frame-by-frame animation (it's more like a narrated motion-comic - or animatic - if you will). It still takes a lot of work. The more minutes, the longer it takes.

Secondly, I am the only one working on this. I do not have a Patreon or a large social media following. I am doing the unpopular thing and making my own original art and trying to grow my audience as organically as I can. I figure if there are folks out there who like my stuff, they might, I don't know, be interested in seeing what else I create? And so for those awesome few, believe me when I say: I truly appreciate your support.

Thirdly, I moved country. Not a small thing. That took a fair chunk of my life up for a while. Settlin' in and all that. I think some people forget that reality is a factor. I'm not a machine; I am a human being here behind this moniker. Things take time (again, refer to the first point) and you have to adjust at different points in your life. That being said, I cracked on and got it done. So, I am happy with my efforts and the fact I got it out only a few months after I initially planned to.

Lastly, I love Newgrounds.com and the support that 'Satchel' has received over the past couple of years. I just feel as though it's had a fairer go here and has had the chance to grow over time as people have either discovered it initially or stumbled upon it along their travels. I am really thankful for that.

Also too, just before I sign off on this post, I get that 'Satchel' is not for everyone. That's more than okay if it's not your thing. Now, I have only really received great support and encouragement whilst being here on Newgrounds, but I do suspect that there may be the odd troll or two hiding in the wings*. Just for those odd few, please know that I am not changing the format. I will continue to tell the story in my own way and the way that I see fit. Critique and sensible suggestions are always welcomed (and, sincerely, thank you to all who have provided me with that feedback - good and not-so-good - hey, it's important. It has been really useful and I appreciate you giving me your time to help me tell my story better), but I do know the difference between trolling and helping. So, for all the trolls: have a nice day.

To all the Newgrounds folk; thank you for your support thus far and, if you've made it this far on my post, thank you for taking the time to read my update. Hope you enjoy Episode 7 (if it's your thing).

Have a good one and now it is time to get back to working on Episode 8 and getting that ready. I am also looking to shift my style and workflow process to, hopefully, make it a little quicker. (And that includes writing shorter episodes).

Cheers,

JR

Hey Newgrounds,

Just thought I'd post an update about the current status of 'The Adventure Satchel'. Episode 7 is still underway and I have been chipping away at it bit-by-bit over the past year or so now. Time is truly flyin'! Some things have cropped up that have delayed me, but in all honesty, it has just been a case of sitting down whenever I can to get it done to ensure it is released by the end of 2018... and that is very rapidly approaching. At the latest, I am aiming for a January 2019 release. Although it may sound like a chore in the way that I am explaining it; I really do enjoy the creative process of putting an episode together. It's challenging and rewarding all at once. I must say too, that the community and support have both been amazing! I'm forever grateful that 'Satchel' has found a home over here on Newgrounds.

Well, back to it all, I guess. Have a good one and keep on creatin'!

Cheers,
JR :)

Hey Newgrounds,

Whoa! It's been a while (over a year, in fact come to think of it, regarding my last post...) but the latest episode of 'The Adventure Satchel' is underway and being created right now! It's up to Episode 7 and, watching it grow and develop from the initial Pilot Episode, has been one of the most satisfying things I have ever done as an artist. (Well, in my honest, humble opinion anyway...)

Because of Newgrounds and the amazing community here, 'Satchel' - I feel - finally has a place to call home. On here it has reached an audience that I could have not anticipated and - not just any audience by that notion - but an audience that is willing to encourage and support fellow and fair creatives alike. It truly is an awesome place and I reckon it has helped fan the creative fire furthermore and allowed me to push on and keep creating new installments. So a huge 'thank you!' to the community here. The mere fact that one of the episodes has passed over 1200 views is incredible to someone such as myself who has such a small internet presence.

Anyway, back to working on it. I have no idea when it will be released as the current narration for the episode is over 8 minutes in length! But due to how 'Satchel' is constructed, it might not be *too* bad... (I may even split it into two parts... we shall see...)

Thanks again for all the support and your awesome creations!
Cheers,
JR :)

Hey Newgrounds,

How are you all going? Feels like it's been an eternity since I last posted about any NG related news - including anything 'Satchel' related... so, what's the deal?

Just busy I guess. Life gets that way sometimes. I would like to commit to this a lot more though. In fact, I have started to re-focus a bit of my attention away from "work-work" stuff and pour more of my energy, time and commitment into my creations on here. It feels good too. I've been missing the creative process and just the general feeling of excitement that comes with telling a story the way I wanna tell it on my own terms (be it good, bad or otherwise). It's just a lotta fun!

Anyway, here's to some quicker uploads in the near future. Hope you're all well and havin' a ball yourselves.

Cheers,
JR :)

Hi Newgrounds folks!

So, I have just uploaded the next installment of 'The Adventure Satchel' and I have changed the format ever so slightly. It is still told in its traditional 'AV Storytelling' format, but I have changed the intro stinger so that it gets into the action and/or the *actual* story much quicker than it previously had done. On top of that, I have also tinkered with the fonts.

The real reason for this is because my old laptop died and - as a result - I lost the font files (should'a backed them up - but alas - I did not AND I couldn't find the font type I was after...) Ah well, C'est la vie! I kinda figure it's for the best anyway. The newer format is a little cleaner and easier to replicate now.

At the end of the day, I suppose it's all about discovery and working your way through a project such as this one...

Anyway, hope you all enjoy!

New uploads as soon as I am able to...

Cheers,
JR :)

Alrighty Newgrounds - hope things are well! Here's an update on things:

Recently I just finished uploading a series to my YouTube Channel which was centred around my fiancé and I's trip to Japan earlier this year. By all means, click the link and check it out if you really want to (there are fourteen videos in total - as it was a video per day type of thing). The bottom line is - I promised myself that I would complete this series and see it through to the very end *before* committing to anything extra and that also included... 'THE ADVENTURE SATCHEL' series that I am uploading exclusively on here now. I have really, really missed working on this series and so now is the time to get back into it all and keep it going. It's going to be a LOT of work and it's definitely a "long haul" type of project, so here's me committing to it as best I can. Any support, comments and/or such things are greatly appreciated as well.

Currently, I am working on the script and I am about to begin production on the next installment. It should be along relatively soon. They do take some sweet time though - so please - be patient. I will endeavour to do my best to get them out to you when I can and, ultimately, at the highest possible quality too.

With all that being said - just quickly - thank you Newgrounds for all the support and views thus far! The most popular episode on here (Ep. 4) was the most unpopular on YouTube (I think it barely managed to hit 13 views or something... no joke...) so thank you once again! I think 'THE ADVENTURE SATCHEL' has found a home and I'm glad to keep it going on here where it might at least be watched and appreciated.

On that happy note - best wishes for the holiday season! Merry Christmas (if you're celebrating it) and all the best for 2017!

I'm off to create, enjoy Chrissy and spend some time with my wonderful fiancé and my family.

Cheers,
JR

Now that all episodes of 'The Adventure Satchel' are uploaded (as of this moment), I have another project that I am keen to finish up over on YouTube before I continue to make the new episodes. Rest assured though, I fully intend to keep making more once the YouTube project is all finished up... which should be pretty soon.

Thanks Newgrounds!
